Why Choose FiltEdge Medium Filter Cartridges?

FiltEdge provides a highly consistent fluid control solution, utilizing a 100% polypropylene hot melt process that eliminates the pore size expansion common with traditional cartridges. FiltEdge filter cartridges achieve a consistent Beta Ratio ≥ 1000, with the benefit of drift-free filtration, and each cartridge passes the Bubble Point Test for extremely stable line operation.FiltEdge filter cartridges utilize a state-of-the-art nano-fiber membrane coating that provides an effective retention rate of up to 99.99%. This extremely high primary filtration rate gives you a qualitative improvement in the purity of your finished product. Corrosion-resistant polypropylene (PP) and polyether sulfone (PES) materials are used.

What is a Medium Filter Cartridge?

The Medium Filter Cartridge is an indispensable “interceptor hub” that bridges the gap between roughing and finishing filtration, introducing a medium efficiency cartridge for those 1-50 micron particles that are large enough to wear out pumps and valves and clog expensive terminal membranes, giving you total optimization of your production line’s total cost of ownership, and saving you approximately 20% of system downtime and maintenance time by sharing the filtration stress. By sharing the stress of filtration, you save approximately 20% of system downtime and maintenance costs. FiltEdge medium-performance cartridges utilize state-of-the-art, high-density, thermally fused fiber technology, which provides a longer useful life of up to 30% longer than conventional brands and saves you up to 18% of warehousing and replacement labor costs.

Key Features of FiltEdge Medium Filter Cartridges

FiltEdge Medium Filter Cartridges feature Exceptional Chemical Compatibility, hot melt construction, high precision, and high folding area de sign.

Exceptional-Chemical-Compatibility
Exceptional Chemical Compatibility

Whether it is a strong acid, alkali or organic solvent, we ensure that the cartridges will not swell, soften or degrade when in contact with corrosive media by matching the different properties of the seals (e.g. Viton, EPDM, Silicone) and filter media.

Thermally-Bonded-Construction
Thermally Bonded Construction

Thermally bonded construction maintains the compression ratio of the seals with an axial shrinkage of less than 1.5% in a continuous high temperature test at 82℃. The tensile strength of the filter media is maintained at over 95% after 72 hours of cyclic immersion in 10% nitric acid.

High-Precision-Micron-Ratings
High-Precision Micron Ratings

Absolute Precision cartridges can achieve β ≥ 5000 (i.e. 99.98% interception efficiency) in tests. Optimized flow path design reduces the Initial Pressure Drop, which is usually controlled between 0.01 and 0.02 MPa.

High-Surface-Area-Pleated-Design
High Surface Area Pleated Design

High density folded design, standard 40 inches (1016 mm) depth type cartridge surface area is usually only 0.25-0.35 square meters (EFA) to reach an amazing 0.75 – 0.95 square meters, high modulus support mesh (Rigid Support Mesh) to prevent industrial high pressure under the folding together.

FiltEdge Fully Automated Pleated Cartridge Assembly Line

FiltEdge introduces the world’s leading Fully Automated Pleated Cartridge Assembly Line that integrates the process from multi-layer media unwinding, Intelligent Pleating, to end-cap hot-melt, eliminating the instability associated with manual operation. The machine utilizes Servo-Driven Pleating Technology to tightly control fold height tolerances to ±0.05mm. Compared to traditional mechanical folding, this precision ensures that the cartridges have extremely uniform flow path gaps over their full 40-inch length, effectively preventing Pleat Pinching, a common phenomenon at high differential pressures of 0.3 MPa. The automated line produces cartridges with a 15% improvement in Effective Filtration Area (EFA) uniformity and an initial pressure drop standard deviation reduced to within 0.002 MPa. The equipment is equipped with Online Ultrasonic Cleaning & Pulse Air Blowing, which ensures that the initial cleanliness of the filter cartridges leaving the factory meets the ISO 16232 standard, with no particles left behind.

What is the typical filtration accuracy of Medium Filter Cartridge? How to choose?

Typically ranging from 1 micron to 20 microns, selection requires a balance between Beta Ratio and Pressure Drop. It is recommended that the selection be based on fluid viscosity and target contaminant particle size.

What is the difference between Depth and Surface medium efficiency cartridges?

Depth cartridges (e.g., meltblown or wire-wound) utilize a gradient of pore sizes within the filter media to capture contaminants, resulting in a higher Dirt Holding Capacity; Depth filtration acts like a “sponge” and is suitable for fluids with a wide radial distribution of particles.

How to judge the timing of filter cartridge replacement by Pressure Drop

It is recommended to keep the initial pressure drop below 0.02MPa. When the Differential Pressure reaches 0.15-0.2MPa (or 25 – 30 psi), it indicates that trapped particles have clogged the internal pores of the filter layer, and the cartridge must be replaced to prevent structural damage to the cartridge or bypass leakage.
