Theoretically bag hygienic filter housings are able to filter liquids with viscosity, but they are not suitable for high viscosity slurries. If the viscosity of your slurry is too high, it will lead to low filtration efficiency, rapid increase in differential pressure, and a high risk of clogging and breakage of the filter bag. Typically, core filters, candle filters and fully automatic squeegee filters are more suitable for high viscosity conditions. Bag sanitary filter housings are not preferred as filtration equipment for high viscosity slurries.
The question of whether the CIP/SIP cleaning needs to be shut down mainly depends on what type of operation mode of the filter housing you have purchased. If you use a single manual mode of hygienic filter housing, it is necessary to stop the machine for cleaning, because filtration and cleaning can not be carried out at the same time; then if you buy the filter is used in parallel mode/duplex sanitary filter housing, you can stop the need to clean the one filtering equipment, so that another device then work, so as to achieve the purpose of filtration and cleaning cleaning at the same time cleaning; that a fully automatic sanitary filter housing, you can carry out CIP/SIP cleaning operation online, without stopping, the whole automated operation.
The temperature range that FiltEdge’s sanitary filter housings can withstand depends mainly on the material of the seals and filter elements. The housings are basically made of stainless steel and can withstand high temperatures. Seals that are made of PTFE/Viton will allow your filter to withstand temperatures up to 150°C.
